The Renaissance Project is an inspired plan to bring the Shrine to its true potential, in three phases: The Porziuncola, Preservation and Programs.

Through the Renaissance Project, with your support, the Shrine will become an international symbol for "peace and good" — in the words of Saint Francis, "pax et bonum."

The renewed National Shrine will be one of the world's sanctuaries — a place to rest, think, meditate, and pray — a spiritual destination attracting thousands who want to follow in the footsteps of Saint Francis and share in his legacy.

  1. programs A replica of Saint Francis' porziuncola chapel from Assisi, Italy, right next to the Shrine's main Church.

  2. programs A beautiful upgrading of the exterior and interior of the Church — a preservation of our national treasure.

  3. programs An international spiritual center with programs that express Franciscan prayer and thought.
