National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi
renaissance projectprograms

The Renaissance Project continues to support an international center that expresses the life of Saint Francis and Franciscan prayer and thought.

Sapienza, the Italian word for wisdom and knowledge, inspires the educational and cultural programs at the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi. These include public lectures, seminars, and small-group classes on a variety of topics, all influenced by the thought and tradition of Saint Francis and the Italian-rooted culture of San Francisco's North Beach.

These programs help us pursue sapienza and permit us to proclaim more fully the message of Saint Francis — "pax et bonum!" — "peace and good!"

The Archdiocese of San Francisco invites you to join us in this historic endeavor to instill the spirit of Saint Francis in the heart of our City.
